Two of Swords + King of Cups, Dream Raven + Voodoo Tarot

A somewhat serious situation calling for our participation, presence, keen discernment and service. 

In their own way both of these cards talk about power, service and responsibilities.

It's not the typical thing ascribed to S2, but here it is.
"This raven has been dealt a very powerful position". And it goes on to mention the two swords 'resting upon her back'. Swords of 'judge and jury'.
"Though she does not wish to have such power, it is her to wield"

Again, it's an unusual twist to the S2, which 'traditionally' shows a blindfolded woman crossing two swords in front of her. A common name for it being "crossroads". A rather personal thing. This card amplifies 'others'. Not only in the sense that our choices always affect others, in one way or another, but almost implies that others is the first thing to consider?
"for every action there is an opposite reaction. Consider your actions carefully as they will affect others around you without intention"
Also, when I first looked at this card, I saw S3 - classically a pierced heart.

Then there's the King who "provides a service and a blessing to all that is greater than the benefit he receives" - so again the 'other' theme. From the deck of Sacrifice (which we had yesterday too).
A rather melancholic King as I perceive it. "He can be enthusiastic, but the enthusiasm easily falls away"
I guess a 'sacrificial role' often comes with that frame of mind!

Or is it showing the situation of two different people?
The 2nd a strong and powerful fellow deeply immersed in his role of servitude, and because of it easily looses his joy and inspiration.
The 1st someone who "feels the burden" of recognizing when others are 'more in a role than in their Selves', and acutely aware that her 'piercing mind (judgment)' and mere presence/contact create reactions. Especially true regarding individuals who know they are 'lying to themselves' in one way or another. Know they are trapped in a track or role of service or pleasing. They may feel naked and vulnerable with her, perceive her mere presence as a judgment, and begin engage in defensive patterns. And will, as long as SHE feels her perceptive mind to be a burden..!? Or something she needs to act on. Or worse - feel sorry for or save others. Others for sure feel this!!

Less resistance today though - upright cards :)
