The Hermit, Urban Tarot

Isolation can be felt stronger than ever in the "wrong" company!

It can become especially obvious days like this - days of tradition and social gathering!
Today it's Midsummer's Eve. A day when the whole block gathers as per tradition. Raising that flower clad pole, dancing around it, singing, laughing, talking, mingling, eating, rejoicing.
Sounds super cozy, right?!

I so WISH I found it so, and for a very long time I even THOUGHT I did - all those years of 'being totally alone' on this very day/evening (and others like it - as Swedes celebrate pretty much all occasions the same way - except for the pole ><)).

Because my whole life I have longed to be in some kind of community, or rather - belonging.
But as it happens - a bunch of people and a day with traditions is not enough to make a belonging ,:)

The sensation of loneliness can be quite palpable and painful when we hang around with people we don't really feel a bond or belonging to!

For me that's 'hanging with the ordinary' - which is the theme of this deck in my system. 'The urbanized society'. Were tradition is no longer more than just that - tradition. The meaning behind it is long lost and gone. As is the connection with nature/cosmos.
No true celebration.
Little presence.
Primarily appearance and surface.
Distraction from whatever the 'ordinary Joe' wants to forget for a moment.

And what pains me (the 3rd house Stellium gal) the most: no true exchanges.
There's small talk and complaints about life or the government ,:)
A bit of "Fun" - or for some rather an obligation (as it's the way we've always done it) - squeezed into a busy life.

(It's equally painful for me when so called 'spiritual people' gather and 'make a ritual' of it - which I've also experienced a bit lately ,:))
