Seven of Wands, Unicorn Tarot
Something is limiting or hindering us - and it's not 'others'
What strikes me first is how this image differs from the traditional one - where 6 of the rods are held by opponents.
Here there are no opponents, just wands sticking up from the ground - the foundation.
This beautifully pictures the notion and universal truth that 'all resistance comes from within' - not the people out there 'fighting us' (as in the traditional W7)!
Fighting us or 'sparring us'.
Now we're invited to contemplate our 'fundamental beliefs', what drives us.
Some of them may actually be the reason for some of the troubles we experience.
At face value or intention wise they may 'look good' and follow 'common sense', but if the consequences aren't to our liking something about them is out of alignment!
Maybe not to the 'unawakened eye', maybe not from a societal perspective - but maybe spiritually or emotionally speaking? For US - whether we 'like it' or not.
If we go really really deep, or become really really silent, we will hear it.
We will then feel were the 'glitch' is.
Feel how we are not totally honest with ourselves.
Where there's an 'old way of thinking' still operating.
One witch the ego (or a manager part #IFS ) has hid so well, in layers and layers of 'good intentions' and other stuff that gets us 'pats on the back'.
It's a hard one - 'giving up' patterns/beliefs that others (p)raise us for, or that 'help us get along/fit in'.
Still, it's time.
They are what's 'standing in our way'. Lock us in.
Limit our movement - hindering our growth.
