Starting with ourselves is the best foundation to any relationship!
If we don't give to ourselves first we have nothing to give to others.
And we have SO much to offer, even if we don't think so - I refer to the 2nd card, where the lady "shows the gentleman her achievements", reversed.

It's NOT a recommended way to first give to others and hope they will 'return the favor' and give us what we need.
To wait for others to 'get our needs met'.

We need to make the groundwork, create a stable foundation. Really pin down what our true needs are and create a nurturing space/place/life for ourselves - and then have some awesome relationships as 'frosting on the cake'!
Relationships that fits well as extensions to our foundation, and not requires that we give up on our basic needs or 'change/limit who we are'.

'What you see is what you get!'
It's about 'showing who we are' rather than trying to be what we think others want or adjusting to what they want us to be or what they are comfortable with (that's just a sign that they are not 'our people').

Of course we WILL change, because we will never stop learning and growing, but that's a totally different kind of change than 'adjusting so others like/accept us' or feel comfortable with us.

Lasting fruitful relationships just never comes out of 'making others like us' but from attracting people who 'like what they see/get' - and sometimes it might take a while for them to see it! ,:)
Let's give them that time, and meanwhile we build our foundation even stronger!
