Nine of Swords + Ten of Cups, Sex Fortunes + Gill
Success earned through discipline, effort and freeing of bondage.
The first card may look 'comfy', but we all know how the traditional Nine of Swords looks like - agony. Sleepless nights.
What 'pleasure' is it that 'keep us up at knight'? What are we engaged in that might look like 'healthy engagement' but in truth - our own personal truth - isn't?
Something we 'put on a brave and happy face' for, but in our own quiet wish we didn't have to do. Because it takes far more energy (resources) than it gives, requires us do something we are not truly equipped for, or represent something we don't feel in alignment with.
So the effort asked for here is not the continued effort in the engagement that 'keeps us up at night' - because no matter how much it pleases some of our senses, it's a 'short time pleasure'. Not the long-term 'success' (fulfilment) we're searching and longing for.
Now it's about the discipline to say no to these kinds of shortsighted commitments and trust that 'better fits' will appear once we create the space for it - that is, by leaving the unfulfilling ones behind.
Time to make the effort of breaking with the habit of following the parts of us yearning for 'instant gratification', whether it's about staying in a job for the money or a relationship for the fear of being alone or any other version of 'limiting/limited engagement' not nourishing our whole being (mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally).
We all know about the "I'm just staying/doing this until....", and 'blink' - ten years went by.
Until what? What are we waiting for? Can we actually afford waiting?! What's the (emotional, mental, spiritual, physical) cost?
ENERGY is the most important currency - not the dollar, pound or yen.
How are you investing yours?
