The discomfort of unfinished business.

Cards so depressing I don't really want to write about them, and even less go into them.
But like the advice goes - we must invite all our emotions to the table if we are to heal and feel whole.
Even or especially the uncomfortable ones - and the UNFINISHED ones.

First there's the "former athlete looking through his yearbook" - engulfed by the feeling that his best years are behind him.
Then there's this guy looking like he wants to kill himself...?!
Oboy...
When I read about the 2nd card I see it's a version of The Thinker of Rodin. The original sits with his chin in fist, "eternally brooding". Still not a happy looking fellow, but at least a tad bit "better" than the image and energy in this card!
Reading on my mind hooks on the fact that Rodin often practiced an "extra-ordinary innovation": to leave his works incomplete - intentionally unfinished.

Now we have an interesting theme.
The former athlete looking back at what he remember to be his 'perfect years', grieving it's over and that things will never be as good. In some sense it's really about unfinished business - not being able to let go and move on.
Versus the artist making it a thing in itself to intentionally leave things unfinished and actively move on to next piece. Almost like celebrating and letting the incomplete take center stage, as the unfinished pieces "were charged by Rodin with as much presence as his highly finished works". It was not like he got impatient and just dropped one piece to move on to a new one.

Whatever emotions we're going through right now, it might help to have this theme in the back of our heads.
The theme of 'unfinished business'.
Contemplate how we let thoughts regarding this pull us down.
Grief can be addictive! As it makes dopamine. So it's important to learn to spot healthy processing from merely 'getting high on our emotions' and living in the past.
Learn to feel when it's time to 'just move on'. Not everything has to be finished or completed in a way we THINK of it as complete!

Now that's a Thinker ;)
