Clinging to the Past, Osho Zen

03.12.2023

A visitation from, or a visit to, the past - can we let it be a visit and not try to rebuild it?!

Better to build ON it! Add to it.

It's such a disservice to ourselves if it the visit becomes a clutching to the past, a longing to go back, instead of a fond walk down memory lane.

"the past is gone, and any effort to repeat it is a sure way to stay stuck in old blueprints that you would have already outgrown"

If it doesn't relate to ourselves, how do we meet it in another?
If we are the one happy talking ABOUT it, and the other seem to harbor a longing to 'go back'? Or in some way seems stuck in the past, and what you used to have together.

Personally, I'm almost incapable of 'going back' since I'm blessed with #aphantasia ,:) I'm incapable of conjuring images, feelings or sensations 'in my minds eye'. Neither from the past nor in the form of 'imagine a future'.
I'm truly configured to live in the present!! ,:)

I can for sure get rather preoccupied with thoughts, in terms of abstracts scenarios, though, which my 'hurt parts' like to cling to.
But very, very rarely things or events in the past (as it's often quite 'obvious' why they 'had to go' and that they had served their purpose).
Consciously that is, as my nervous system of course contains emotional traumas, habits and thought patterns 'from the past' that get triggered a lot.
